Words from the Our Project Manager

   Alex Talevski on the recent DEBII industry collaboration success;

   “As projects manager of DEBII, I am pleased to report on the continuing success that we are enjoying with the following high-profile and high-value projects;

  • StatoilHydro, Norway - The currently running "Secure Wireless Sensor Networks" project is in its final stages and will deliver a commercial grade report that has significant value to the resource, oil and gas industries on time and within budget. It is highly likely that StatoilHydro will contract DEBII on a new "Wireless Process Control" project directly after the completion of the current work. This is likely to develop further as a valuable and prestigious collaboration for CBS.
  • Department of Infrastructure, WA - The newly started "Data Cleansing" project with the DPI aims to clean and mitigate data corruption in DPI's databases. The project has started very well with very promising results. Certainly, to date, it shows far greater potential outcomes than previous well-known consultant efforts that ended in failure. Furthermore, a number of ARC grants are currently being supported by DPI and others are already in the stages of review.
  • Main Roads, WA - The Main Roads project aims to reduce traffic congestion and improve the throughput of WA's road ways. It is currently in the planning stages. It aims to use cutting edge Wireless Sensor Network technologies and business intelligence techniques to improve our commute to work (when the road ways are most stressed). DEBII's aims to stamp its mark by saving all of our citizens transportation times so that we can spend more time with our families. It is our great pleasure to be assisting WA's Government organisations for the benefit of our state and all of our citizens.
  • Fleetwood, WA - Fleetwood provides mobile homes for our most important and prosperous industry. Resources, oil and gas will support WA's prosperity for years to come. Our project that aims to reduce energy consumption and related emissions for Fleetwood's BHP, Rio Tinto and Woodside Petroleum "Smart Camps". Through state-of-the art systems we aim to both reduce energy and emissions in line with upcoming carbon-trading scheme but also improve the quality of life of the employees that reside in these rural camps.
  • MOSTI TechnoFund, Malaysia - DEBII recently applied for a Malaysian Ministry Technofund. In line with our Curtin, Malaysia campus and strategy we aim to enhance our collaboration in this region. Our presentation went very well and we expect that in a following round we will receive significant support in introducing our virtually trademark Ontology systems to a local CRM product.MIMOS, Malaysia - MIMOS is somewhat similar to our CSIRO. They have approached us on a collaborative project beginning this year that will utilise our SCM, Ontologies and Cloud computing solutions alongside their existing systems. This project will reinstate DEBII as a world leader in Virtual Collaborative Logistics and Supply Chain Management R&D.
  • Core Competencies - In addition to these previously mentioned projects, DEBII has taken the conscientious effort to develop its core competencies in several key areas through internally funded projects. Projects such as Ontologies, Grids, Cloud Computing, Service Architectures, Data Mining, Spam, Social Networking, Carbon Trading and many others are ongoing and producing significant academic output and commercial benefit. Numerous collaborations throughout the university are also benefitting from our research.”
