WORDS FROM THE HEAD OF R&D

Professor Tharam Singh Dillon

Head of R&D

DEBII Distinguished Research Professor

DEBII is committed to the pursuit of excellence in research at the highest international level that is innovative and significant as well as having a high impact through applications in business, industry and other human endeavours.  DEBII actively pursues research in many areas but its specific research strategy is to develop excellence in broad fields demonstrated in the diagram on the right.

DEBII’s Research consists of two primary parts:

  1. Emerging Underlying Technologies
  2. Domain Knowledge Rich Ecosystems (digital ecosystems, or problem domain applications)

I. Emerging Underlying Technologies

There are three unifying elements in Emerging Underlying Technologies:

  • Cyber information engineering
  • Human space computing
  • Data Mining and Semantic Technologies

These are the key elements underpinning digital ecosystems and business intelligence.

II. Domain Knowledge Rich Ecosystems (Problem Domain Applications)

DEBII researches the ways that emerging underlying technologies support different problem domains (domain specific digital ecosystems) including:

  • Digital business ecosystems
  • Digital health and medical systems
  • Digital classrooms, e-education and e-learning ecosystems
  • Social, cultural, economical sustainability and e-Humanities
  • Digital Resources, mining, oil and gas, logistics, industrial IT and sustainable development
